Do Not Look Inside

Back again - with one of my creations to share!

This time its a book - so a few more pictures to show.  Most of the images contained within the book are PaperArtsy, but you will also find many Tim Holtz products, not just the edge die cuts (love them :)) but copious amounts of glossy accents to add to the overall texture, and my favourite Rock Candy Distress Stickles (my personal favourite).

Well here goes - plenty of pictures to share!

Front page - a frame from Maya Road on top of a chipboard square from Magenta.  You can also see the seam binding ties that were coloured using distress inks.  The main body of the book was created with a 12 x 12 piece of cream card which was then turned into an accordian book.  I found a video on YouTube which gave me the idea for the technique.

First few pages - plenty of PaperArtsy images and uses of Texture Fades embossing folders.  The fence was coloured several times to get the right shade, then spritzed with Walnut ink and Rock Candy Stickles.

As you can see some of the pages have a pocket in the top and a small tag with a small piece of the seam binding attached.

The next few pages show some of the little houses. PaperArtsy stamps were stamped several times so i could create some dimension to the page.  Glossy Accents were also added to windows and doors.
You can also see some spritzed stencil designs - using a spray i created with Distress inks and Perfect Pearls, added to bring a bit of glitz and sparkle.
Once again liberal applications of Rock Candy to the Tim Holtz die cut can be seen.

Last page - another PaperArtsy image with the opposite page embossed with a texture fades folder, then coloured with various shades of Distress Inks.

Well thats it for now - hope the images are inspiring.  I hope to share some more projects with you very soon.

Artsy Crafts - Tim Holtz

Hello again.  This time I would like to share with you the Configurations box I created at this wonderful day in February.  Not only did I spend the morning in the company of lots of other lovely paper artists, but I also had the experience and talent of Tim Holtz to guide me through the process of constructing one of these boxes.

All those wonderful tips and tricks that he shared with us made the morning fly by, and in no time it was lunch and then time to create something else with Leandra and Lin.  This time it was a little house using various products, such as embossed metal, fresco paints and colourwash sprays.  It was another great session with everyone enjoying getting their hands dirty.  When I got home from the event, I eventually finished both the Configurations box and the now altered house - mine turned into more of a frame with doors, very nice all the same!

Well thats all from me for now!

Try to be creative every day!!

Tale of two tags

Just to start my blog entries off i thought i would begin with a few tags i made recently.

Tag One - Vintage
The background was started using a Dovecraft wood mounted stamp which i clear embossed several times around the tag.  The colour was added using Distress inks and a piece of Cut-n-Dry foam.  The colours used were Scattered Straw, Wild Honey (one of my favourite colours!), Bundled Sage and Tumbled Glass.  The tag was then lighlty spritzed with water to give the inks that extra dimension.  Over the top i stamped a script stamp and a vintage text stamp using Distress Ink Walnut Ink.

A couple of coloured paper flowers were added that had been tinted with Walnut Ink and the a spritz of Perfect Pearls Mist - heirloom gold.  They were attached with a couple of large brads.  Also attached were a couple of Tim Holtz fastners - a Swivel Clasp with a few pearls attached together with a little trinket pin.  The cotton tape at the top was coloured using Distress Inks.

Tag Two - Butterflies

I will admit now that this next tag pays homage to one that can be found on Tim Holtz's blog - so thanks for the great idea.

As you can see its using the lovely Papillon Stamp set - one which i picked up at the ArtsyCrafts event in February where i was lucky to spend a wonderful day getting my hands inky! - More of that in another post.  As you can see the tag has been coloured with Distress Inks - Shabby Shutters and Broken China for the background.  Once again spritzed with water and then i stamped over the top with the text stamp using Stormy Sky that had Heirloom Gold Perfect pearls dusted over the top.  This just stuck to the text and the remained was brushed off.  Unfortunately the photo doesnt really show what a great effect this is!  The butterflies were then stamped over the top with Archival Ink  and again on a piece of acetate.  These were then cut out and attached using the Mini Attacher.  A piece of chiffon ribbon was attached once it had been sprayed with Hierloom gold spritz.

Well I hope you like my tags, please feel free to leave a comment.  I will try to put some more examples of my art here soon.

Try to be creative everyday.
