Another Christmas Over

Well time to take the decorations down again, and have a good clean.  Always makes me a little sad as the pretty ornaments are put away in their box and stored away for another year.  This does however give me the opportunity to share some pictures of a Christmas ornament I made this year.
Its a house shaped frame that I purchased earlier this year.  It was a plain wooden frame which I painted with gesso to seal and then white acrylic paint on the outside.  I used Tim Holtz Tissue Wrap to paper inside each of the sections.  The edges were then covered with some of Tim's Tissue Tape which was then aged a bit with Pumice Stone Distress Ink.

Each of the little boxes has a variety of elements included, for example you can see some of the pretty Kars wooden shapes - Trees, Snowflakes and some cute Houses.

I also added a twinkly light which is surrounded by a vintage velum print.  With the snow is included a small tube with sea salt crystals to give the effect of snow.

Some small white baubles were strung with linen thread and hung from the roof of the area.
Several sentiments were included in the ornament - suitable for the season - Hope, Dream and Believe.

The roof space was painted with a darker colour which was mixed with some mica powder to give a slight shimmer effect.  As in the case with many peoples loft  - a single bare bulb hangs from the centre.

The flourish was painted and coated in mica flakes to once again give a vintage feel to the whole piece.

Well this has now been wrapped in a coat of bubble wrap and stored away for the year.  Hopefully it will find a place to be displayed next Christmas.

Wishing you a happy and creative New Year :)
