Art Journal page - Heart

Here's the first peak into my Art Journal which I dive into from time to time.  Its a ring bound book, which has had the binding opened a little so individual pages can be extracted and worked on more easily.

The page I am going to share with you today is actually a piece of Ranger Manila cardstock, which I will mount onto one of the original journal pages.  This cardstock is nice and heavy and takes a lot of ink etc. without too much complaint.

The base colours for the page were Ranger Colour Wash sprays - Terracotta, Raisin and Cranberry.  The edges of the page were shaded using Walnut Ink Distress Ink.

Two flourishes were stamped in opposite corners in black together with the wonderful La Blanch Winged Heart on Fire, which had Ranger Glossy Accents applied.

The sentiment - When the heart speaks you must stop and listen - was added to a die cut, coloured to fit in with the colour scheme.  Once applied this was muted into the background by smudging charcoal around the edge.  A strip of washi tape was applied and muted into the background in the same way.

Three hearts were stamped and coloured, once cut out Ranger Crackle Accents were added and left to dry.  One was attached to a black rosette that had been distressed and where the card showed white due to the distressing, red ink was added.

Stampendous Fran-tage Aged Copper embossing powders and mica flakes were added to each corner and heated from below to melt.  Copper tones were used to match the red scheme.

Its one of my favourite pages so far, and ties in nicely with Valentine's Day next week.
